Thang Students Union (TSU), in collaboration with Noklak Village Council (NVC), carried out a social work at Demphu-Jinkhaiu on Friday with the aim to commemorate the arrival of the white men in the land of the Khiamniungan.

It was on 24 November 1936, J.P Mills, the then Deputy Commissioner of Naga Hills and his team stepped into the land of Khiamniungan Nagas, it was informed. The first meeting of the white men and the Khiamniungans of Thang (Noklak Village) happened at Demphu-Jinkhaio, some kilometres away from Noklak Village.
The TSU aims to erect a Memorial Stone to mark the historical encounter between the white men and the Khiamniungan Naga. Following the completion of the works required in due time, inauguration of the memorial is set to take place in November 2023.
