The People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) on Monday assured that the alliance between the NDPP and the BJP in the State is as strong as ever, and that the PDA government is functioning smoothly.

In a joint statement issued by Minister Temjen Imna Along and Minister KG Kenye on July 1, the PDA coalition clarified the statement was issued to provide the accurate Information on the alliance and the unity of the PDA. “Much has been said and reported on various media platforms and there is a lot of misinformation and speculation on the PDA; therefore it is pertinent to issue this clarification,” mentioned the PDA.

Extended sincere appreciation to the electorates of the areas where elections to the ULBs were held, the statement said, “The overwhelming mandate is an indication of the positive mandate bestowed upon the PDA Government under the leadership of the Honourable Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.” The PDA also congratulated and extended its appreciation to all the government and non-government agencies who made commendable efforts and contributed towards the holding of peaceful and successful elections.

The alliance whichh contested the Lok Sabha elections with a joint PDA candidate and lost, maintained that the defeat was positively accepted by them with humility “as we have the utmost respect towards the mandate of the people”. This was immediately followed by the elections to the ULBs across all urban towns except in the eastern region.

In the ULB elections, the PDA reiterated, both the NDPP and the BJP had agreed to contest in its respective constituencies with local understanding for friendly contests in certain areas. “In these areas, it was the desire of the party workers to contest the elections considering the fact that these are grassroots level elections and therefore it was agreed to have friendly contests in only three councils. These contests were friendly in nature and have not impacted the joint teamwork of the PDA coalition in any manner. The State Government continues to function with cohesion and understanding under a spirit of collective teamwork and responsibility,” stated the PDA.

“The positive spirit of the alliance will continue to be upheld even in the formation of the ULBs across the state with an inclusive approach wherein both the parties will work collectively with team spirit and unity. We are more motivated and encouraged to make more dedicated efforts towards serving the people of Nagaland in a inclusive and just manner,” asserted the PDA.

The alliance appealed to all sections to strengthen unity and oneness, reaffirming its commitment to serve every citizen of Nagaland.
