The Entrepreneurs Associates’ Trees for Wealth essay competition winners felicitated

Kohima: The essay competition was conducted to encourage students to think out of the box and share their concerns and actions for the environment

The Entrepreneurs Associates (tEA) felicitated the winners for Trees for Wealth (TfW) Essay Competition under the theme ‘Our Environment: My actions today, the future that awaits’ today at Chandmari Higher Secondary School Kohima.

The Trees for Wealth (TfW) movement is a flagship program of tEA, with its mission to plant one billion fruit trees by 2050. The essay competition was conducted to encourage students to think out of the box and share their concerns and actions for the environment.

The special guest and one of the brand ambassadors for the Trees for Wealth Movement, Bozio Nienu, a young artist and content creator, shared his impressions about the works of the Entrepreneurs Associates (tEA) and his appreciation about the Trees for Wealth movement.

He highlighted the “Butterfly Effect” on how one small action can, at the right time, have a significant effect. He also spoke on how the COVID-19 pandemic had greatly affected the whole world and how the virtual world has been pushed forward which must be leveraged by all.

Nienu said “climate change is not slowing down” and encouraged everyone to play their own part. The artist also spoke on how tEA is doing its part and that the movement should be communal to allow young minds to come together as one.

The administrative coordinator of tEA, Yutho Sangtam, spoke on the journey of tEA and how the ‘Trees for Wealth Movement’ was born out of the need to address growing climate concerns locally even as tEA continues to promote entrepreneurship.

Yutho said Trees for Wealth (TfW) converges climate action with livelihoods and elucidated on the benefits of the movement. She encouraged the young students to utilise digital technology for accessing knowledge that is readily available. Yutho further encouraged the students to become advocates for the ‘Trees for Wealth’ and spread information about the movement.

Zashebonu Savi from Chandmari Higher Secondary School won the Essay Competition and received a cash prize of Rs 10,000.  Chen-ai, also from Chandmari Higher Secondary School and Athongli Thonger from Mezhur Higher Secondary School won the second and third prizes respectively. All the top 10 participants received a certificate with gift hampers.

Students from different schools such as Mezhur Hr Sec School, St Mary Cathedral Hr Sec School, Modern Hr Sec School and Chandmari Hr Sec School attended the program.

Imtila Longkumar, communications assistant tEA, chaired the program and the invocation was spelled by Asenla Temsu, principal of Chandmari Higher Secondary School.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks given from Vekhoselu Tetse-o, development associate tEA.
