The government is taking advantage because we are keeping silent: Meshenlo Kath, CTAN Convenor

The Government of Nagaland today terminated the contract services of two Junior Soil Conservation Officers under the Soil and Water Conservation department, following the protest by the Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) today.

Earlier today, the CTAN had protested outside the Directorate of Soil and Water Conservation, AG colony. CTAN’s convenor, Meshenlo Kath, briefed the media about the demand for termination of the two JSCO contract appointments and the regularization of employees in group A & B posts appointed before 06.06.2016.

Kath also mentioned that implementing these regularizations would suppress those who come through NPSC. He urged aspirants not to be silent spectators and to fight for their rights, calling it a wake-up call. “The government is taking advantage because they are keeping silent,” stated Kath.

He stated that they had received the termination letter today for those two and will not stop there, but will continue to do this in all other departments to bring about transparency and provide opportunities to all aspirants, aiming to eliminate backdoor appointments.

The written assurance of the termination of the contract services of the two JSCOs was issued by Sushil Kumar Patel, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary to Government of Nagaland

The agitation was later called off following the assurance by the Department officials.
