The Mithun Caravan a hit at Disaster Risk Reduction Day event

Kohima: Mithun Caravan is a disaster prevention education game adopted by NSDMA from the Japanese Iza Kaeru Caravan

The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), under the Home Department celebrated the International day for Disaster Risk Reduction on the 13th of October 2022 at the Heritage Kohima.

In a brief programme, the Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority, Shanavas C, IAS and Secretary NSDMA, and Lhouchalie Viya, IAS addressed the gathered.

The highlight of the programme was the disaster prevention education event called Mithun Caravan. It is an adopted version of the Japanese Iza Kaeru Caravan by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department.

Thejangulie Zao, Assistant Manager (Projects & Resources) introduced the Mithun Caravan game at the programme.

Through this game, children learn about disaster prevention while playing with families and friends. The game can be played by two teams or more with a maximum of 10 (ten) players on each side, the target group being Classes 3 and 4 students, or may be conducted also for other age groups.

The objective of the game is to enhance the capacity of the children through an interesting set of games. This is to understand the concept of Disaster Risk Reduction by making disaster prevention activities more familiar and more enjoyable.

Students from ten schools were invited to play Mithun Caravan.
