At just 30, Themsao Khiamniungan, the founder of Alomei Cosmetics in Nagaland, was honored at the Global Women Inspiration Award and Conclave 2024, a prominent event recognizing women’s leadership in India. The event celebrated the leadership of women across the nation and welcomed numerous distinguished entrepreneurs from various regions.

A civil engineering graduate, Themsao is also a certified skin aesthetic cosmetologist and cosmetic formulator who has successfully transitioned into entrepreneurship. The award acknowledged her significant achievements and contributions to national and societal development. Recognized as a role model for women, Themsao was seen as a deserving recipient of the honor.

The ceremony, which took place on October 17, 2024 at Radisson Blu in New Delhi, was organized by Hypedge Network India and the I CAN Foundation. The event highlighted the remarkable potential of women change-makers, showcasing their commitment, courage, and confidence across different fields and regions.

Speaking to Nagaland Tribune, Themsao expressed that she is  deeply honored and humbled to receive the recognition award that acknowledged her work which will continue to motivate her to strive forward.

Born and raised in Noklak village, Themsao and  her family moved to Kohima for further studies where her parents presently live in both Noklak and Kohima. The young entrepreneur says that her inspiration to pursue her passion and make a difference in her community comes from her  commitment to research in healthcare-related sciences.

Though a graduate in Civil Engineering,  Themsao  never lost sight of her passion for science which led her to become a cosmetic formulator. “I wanted to create job opportunities for others instead of just seeking a government position for myself,” Themsao says.

What drives this young entrepreneur to continue making a positive impact is her determination not to give up. She explains how she kept her dreams alive by starting with small steps, using earnings from her small jewelry business  to support her entrepreneurial journey.

Themsao says that one of the biggest challenges she faced was the lack of support from others, as many in society viewed pursuing a small business as a temporary job and prioritized cracking the NPSC or UPSC exams. “I overcame these obstacles by maintaining hope and continuing to move forward, using my savings from selling earrings and jewelry. The lessons I learned along the way is that anything is possible if we keep our dreams big, start small, and remain perseverant,” expresses Themsao.

Motivating herself , she further adds,”I have faced plenty of criticism while pursuing my current work. However, I handle skepticism by being prepared and ensuring it doesn’t affect my well-being. I stay focused on my passion and continue to excel.”

Believing in empowering each other through supportive networks, collaborations, education and resources, Themsao citedan example of how grateful grateful she is for the recent event organized by WENNS Bazaar at CT Square, Chumukedima, where a group of entrepreneurs had the opportunity to showcase their skills.

Themsao  believe that her  work can inspire women worldwide because she is not alone in facing similar challenges. “ If I can do it, anyone can too. I hope to set an example that with big dreams and perseverance, success is achievable,” she challenges young dreamers.

She declares that the award has positively influenced both her personal and professional life which serves as a rewarding experience that motivate her to continue striving.

Speaking of her future projects and initiatives, she says that there are several plans in the pipeline which she will reveal gradually.
