Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday flayed the Modi government of continuously trying to ignore the contribution of Congress in making modern India.
“BJP has not done even a single work in the last 10 years that can be called a milestone. He has been working to change the name and form of the schemes of the UPA-Congress era,” stated Kharge during the meeting of General Secretaries Incharges, PCC Presidents and CLP leaders on January 4 in New Delhi. Kharge called upon the gathering to remind others about the various contributions of Congress to the nation, asserting, “Because those who forget history, cannot create history.”
The Congress President also accused the present government of selling to PSUs and larger institutions. “Every institution including the country’s lifeline Railways has been destroyed. They are openly misusing institutions like ED/CBI/IT. The Prime Minister’s absence from Manipur till date shows how irresponsibly he acts on national issues,” stated Kharge.
In a post on X, Kharge highlighted the important discussions which were held with Rahul Gandhi and all AICC general secretaries, in-charges, state Congress presidents and Congress assembly party leaders in the states.
The agenda of the meeting was to ensure victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and to prepare in detail for the Bharat Nyay Yatra. A recap on previously held meetings were also reminded.
Ahead of the 2024 elections, Kharge noted that many important works have been done to strengthen the party organization such as the launching of “Donate For Desh” crowdfunding campaign, alloting the responsibilities of General Secretaries and Incharges and the formation of manifesto Committee.
“In the last few months, we have held detailed meetings with leaders of 28 states to prepare the organization for the Lok Sabha elections. By working day and night, we will be able to provide an alternative government in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Where we are weak, people and seats with certain support base should be identified,” stated Kharge.
A control room for media and social media has been set up in AICC to ensure regular and better coordination with AICC and PCC.

Kharge also cited the recently held winter session of Parliament took place, in which 146 MPs were suspended in an undemocratic manner for the first time, and Bills like Criminal Law Bills, Telecommunication Bill, CEC Bill were passed without debate and discussion. “Opposition to the bills being passed without thinking has started in various areas and their bad consequences are also becoming visible,” stated Kharge.
“BJP is pushing emotional issues to cover up the failures of its government in the last 10 years. They deliberately involve Congress in every issue. We have to unite and give a befitting reply to the lies, deceit and wrongdoings of BJP on grassroots issues in front of the people,” asserted Kharge.
The President Informed that the Bharat Nyay Yatra will start from East to West from January 14 under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. The 6200 km long journey will begin from Manipur to Mumbai and will end on March 20. The Yatra will pass through 14 states and 85 districts. Its objective is to create public awareness on social justice and basic questions of the people like inflation, unemployment, poor condition of farmers and labourers, increasing gap between rich and poor and caste census etc. “We are confident that it will bring the issues of social justice to the center of the national discussion,” mentioned Kharge while also acknowledging Rahul Gandhi who has taken the initiative of the resolution by accepting the request of the party leaders.
This Yatra, according to the Congress President, will present the reality of economic, social and political injustice before the people. We have to raise our voice with full strength to save the Constitution and democracy, Congress cadre will make every effort to make it successful.
Kharge also lauded the success and impact of Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.
“You all are the eyes and ears of the party. You know that whatever we have to do, we have only the next three months to do it, in this we have to work day and night with all our might for the party,” advised the President to the gathering.
