Three men were arrested at National Highway-2 near Viswema Y Junction after police personnel seized ten packets of suspected opium from the vehicle.
The men, one from Himachal and two from Assam, were arrested after their vehicle was intercepted during a surprise Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) at NH-2 by the Nagaland Police personnel of Narcotic Cell PS (PHQ).
The vehicle, a Mahindra vehicle Scorpio (Pearl white color) B/Reg.No.AS02AA/2619, was intercepted around 9am on Thursday.
The men were travelling on the Pfutsero/Imphal road of NH-2, proceeding from Imphal, Manipur via Kohima to Nagaon, Assam.
Upon a thorough check of the vehicle, police personnel recovered ten packets of suspected opium, weighing around nine kilograms.
The driver and two occupants of the vehicle namely,
- Ameer Khan (M) 29yrs, S/o Saleem Mohammed, R/o Ratt, PO/PS-Bilaspur, Dist.-Bilaspur, State- Himachal Pradesh
- Iman Ali (M) 49yrs, S/o Jinat Ali, R/o Harmati, PO/PS-Kuthari, Dist-Nagaon, Assam
- Ramjan Ali (M)20yrs, S/o Enach Ali, R/o Harmati, PO/PS Kuthari, Dist.-Nagaon, Assam
were arrested and the illegal contraband along with the vehicle duly seized.
Nagaland Police has registered a case, vide Narcotic Cell Police Station Case No. 13/2022, U/S18(b)/60 NDPS Act, for further investigation.
