The second day of the eagerly anticipated Inter-Ward Volleyball Tournament witnessed a series of exhilarating matches that left fans on the edge of their seats. The sun-kissed courts at Mokokchung came alive as players showcased their spiking prowess and defensive skills in a fierce battle for victory.

In the opening match, Yimyu emerged as the dominant force, effortlessly overpowering Majakong in a straight-set victory. The dynamic spiking display by Yimyu secured their triumph with convincing set scores of 25-14 and 25-13.

Defending champions, Sungkomen, continued to assert their supremacy in the tournament, as they mercilessly trounced Alempang. The star of the match, Merensashi, led Sungkomen to a commanding win with successive set victories of 25-13, 25-13.

The spectators were treated to a nail-biting clash between Mongsenbai and Artang, with the latter emerging victorious in a hard-fought battle. Mongsenbai’s valiant efforts, led by Captain Maongkaba, were no match for Artang’s resilient defense, as they clinched the victory with set scores of 25-19 and 25-20.

Hosts Kumlong displayed a blend of determination and skill, ultimately securing a comfortable win over Penli in straight sets of 25-18 and 25-21, despite some room for improvement in their performance.

A showdown between Sungkomen and Lijaba added a dramatic twist to the day’s proceedings of the Inter-Ward Volleyball Tournament. Though Sungkomen secured a 25-22 victory in the opening set, the experienced Lijaba team gave them a tough fight in the second set, which concluded with a score of 25-21 in favour of Sungkomen.

In a thrilling sixth match, Mongsenbai battled back from an initial setback to overcome tournament newcomers Alempang. Mongsenbai’s unwavering determination earned them victories in the second and third sets with impressive scores of 25-14 and 25-11.

Kumlong continued their dominance as they outplayed Majakong in a match that saw Kumlong claim both sets, 25-12 and 25-21, securing their position as the Group A leaders.

In a gripping clash between Penli and Yimyu, Yimyu’s spiking prowess proved instrumental in their victory, securing a semi-final spot as runners-up from Pool B with set scores of 25-22 and 25-19.

The final league match of the day saw Artang emerge triumphant against Lijaba. Despite Lijaba’s spirited efforts, Artang reigned supreme, securing their position as Group A toppers with set scores of 25-23 and 25-12.

The stage is now set for the semi-finals, with Artang facing off against Yimyu and Sungkomen locking horns with Kumlong in what promises to be an electrifying encounter. The much-anticipated finals of the Inter-Ward Volleyball Tournament, scheduled for tomorrow evening at 06:30 PM, will be graced by the esteemed presence of Guest of Honour Imlikokba Lkr, District Planning Officer of Mokokchung Government of Nagaland.

In this riveting tournament, Pool A features Sungkomen, Mongsenba, Alempang, Lijabalijen, and Artang, while Pool B consists of Majakong, Penli, Yimyu, and Kumlong. As the competition intensifies, fans eagerly await the crowning of the ultimate champions.
