The Thsingar Village Citizens of Kiphire District has appealed the United Sangtam Likhüm Pumji (USLP) to reconsider the ex-communication order of Likhumse Sangtam citing that it was based on an “arbitrary judgement”.
The citizens claimed that the order “has been found to be executed with just one sided source of information without summoning or issuing any show cause notice to Mr. Likhumse for hearing in person.”
The USLP, the apex tribal body of the Sangtam community, had on 25th July ex-communicated Likhumse for 15 years from the community for passing a comment in an important Whatsapp group which was found to be detrimental for the growth of Sangtam Tribe and its peaceful coexistence within ENPO Tribes.
In a letter to the Executive Convener, USLP, the Thsingar Village Citizens stated that “the expulsion of our bonafide citizen and bringing indescribable shame upon the Thsingar Citizens as a whole is totally unacceptable” and urged the organisation “to look into this matter judiciously and deliver justice within 10 days from the date of this petition”. It also said that failing to do, “Thsingar Village shall take further course of action in the pursuit of justice”.
