Coinciding with the 22nd anniversary of Tir Yimyim, the Ao vernacular daily published from Dimapur, a new website — aolingo.in — was launched to translate text from English to Ao language.
In an effort to promote and preserve the Ao language, Tir Yimyim Editor and Publisher, K Temjen Jamir advocated for the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in language preservation initiatives. He said the AI-based translation platform aims to translate not only individual words but full texts from English to Ao.
Jamir noted that the website is still in its development stage, with the translation model continuously learning. He acknowledged that translations may not always be accurate at present and appealed to the public to contribute English–Ao words and phrases to help improve the project.
In a short video message, Bendangnuksung, a Machine Learning Engineer based in Amsterdam who is developing the project in collaboration with Tir Yimyim, shared his vision of preserving the Ao language for future generations through technology.

As part of the celebration, winners of the fiction writing competition jointly organized by Tir Yimyim and the Bookipedia Foundation were awarded cash prizes and certificates.
