The National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP), Longleng, successfully launched the Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 3.0 on October 9 at the PBCA Convention Hall, Longleng. The program was graced by the Deputy Commissioner Longleng, W Manpai Phom, as the Special Guest.
The event was chaired by Pongthai Phom, Teacher, PLHSS, and began with a special song presented by H Bautok, Teacher, PLHSS.
In his address, W Manpai Phom highlighted the ill effects of tobacco usage and encouraged students to lead by example and not fall into the habit. He stressed that although the campaign officially runs for 60 days, the commitment to remain tobacco-free should continue 365 days a year.
He further urged students to take positive steps toward a healthy, tobacco-free lifestyle and appreciated the continuous efforts of the District Health Society and NTCP Longleng in creating awareness and bringing positive change.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr Nichukholie Vupru, District Nodal Officer, NTCP Longleng, highlighted the strategies of Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 3.0, emphasizing the risks associated with smoking, tobacco facts, and the importance of spreading awareness among the youth to prevent tobacco initiation.
The program was also attended by Dr Tiasunep, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Longleng, Dr Lanuakum, Medical Superintendent (MS), and Principal of PLHSS, Philip Nyam.
A total of 286 students participated in the launching program, showing strong enthusiasm and support for the cause of a tobacco-free generation.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, marking the successful launch of the Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 3.0 in Longleng District.
