Together, we can bring transformation in the lives of a vast population in our country: PM Modi addresses YouTube community

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the YouTuber community on September 27 during the YouTube Fanfest India 2023. Having completed 15 years on YouTube, the PM also shared his experience of creating a global impact through the medium, informed the Press Information Bureau (PIB) report.

Addressing the YouTuber community, the Prime Minister expressed delight in completing his 15-year YouTube journey and stated, “For 15 years, I have also been connected to the country and the world through my YouTube channel. I also have subscribers in decent numbers.”

Acknowledging the presence of a huge community of 5,000 creators and aspiring creators, the Prime Minster mentioned creators from gaming, technology, food blogging, travel bloggers and lifestyle influencers. Observing the impact of content creators on the people of India, the Prime Minister highlighted the opportunity to make this impact more effective and said, “Together, we can bring transformation in the lives of a vast population in our country. We can connect them with us.”

Noting that there are thousands of videos on his YouTube channel, the Prime Minister shared the most satisfying videos for him has been the ones where spoke to lakhs of students in our country through YouTube on subjects like exam stress, expectation management and productivity. Further elaborating on topics that are connected with mass movements where the power of the people is the basis for their success, the Prime Minster mentioned Swachh Bharat- campaign that has expanded in the last nine years involving everyone. “Children brought an emotional power to it. Celebrities gave it heights, people in all corners of the country turned it into a mission and YouTubers like you made cleanliness cooler,” quipped Modi who urged viewers not to stop the movement until cleanliness becomes India’s identity.

Secondly, the Prime Minister stressed on digital payments. Noting that India has a 46 percent share in digital payments of the world due to the success of UPI, the Prime Minister urged the community to inspire more people in the country to make use of digital payments, while also teaching them to make digital payments in simple language through their videos.

Advocating for “Vocal for Local”, the Prime Minister highlighted that so many products in our country are made at the local level, appreciating the skill of local artisans. He asked the community to promote these artisans through YouTube videos and help in making India’s local turn global.
Making an emotional appeal to buy products that have the fragrance of our soil and the sweat of labourers and artisans of India, the Prime Minister emphasized, “Whether it’s Khadi, handicrafts, handloom, or anything else, awaken the nation, initiate a movement.” The Prime Minister also suggested adding a question at the end of each episode and providing action points for viewers to initiate change. “Once People can do the activity and share it with you. This way, your popularity will also grow, and people will not just listen but also engage in doing something,” said the PM.
The Prime Minister expressed delight in addressing the community and concluded by saying what every YouTuber says at the end of their videos- “Subscribe to my channel and hit the Bell Icon to receive all my updates.”
