In a significant move toward sustainable community development, the “Treasures of Phek Society” (ToPS) was officially launched by Dr Pritpal Kaur, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Phek, at the Tourist Lodge in Phek village. This innovative initiative, conceptualized by Dr Kaur, is designed to tackle unemployment while prioritizing environmental conservation, women’s empowerment, and the preservation of traditional knowledge.
During the launch, Dr Kaur emphasized the importance of teamwork and innovation in building a peaceful and progressive society. Various trainings were also provided to the members of the society from organizations such as KVK, NTTC, and ICAR.
The ToPS product line features a diverse range of locally sourced items, including crafts made from banana fiber, straw, and wood, as well as processed local fruits and vegetables transformed into chips, juices, and candies. The brand also highlights the region’s agricultural strengths with herbal products like turmeric and ginger, alongside value-added offerings of millets and sticky rice.

The event saw strong support from local leaders and administration. Er Khuvoyi Vese from NBM urged farmers to maintain long-term sustainable goals, while EAC Phek, Imnasenla, encouraged the group to maintain discipline in skill enhancement. Highlighting the potential for growth, CMA President, Zhonelu called for the ToPS model to be replicated across all villages in the district.
The “ToPS “brand launching program, which began with an invocation by Rev Vezopa Tetseo and a welcome address by VDB Secretary, Huvekholu, was attended by a wide cross-section of society, including farmers, elders, CMA, PAPO, CYF, SHGs, and various community frontal organizations.
