Tourist from England passes away in Kohima; post mortem exam points to heart attack

Kohima: Tourism Dept and Nagaland Police conduct send-off program for deceased at North PS

A tourist by the name of Nigel Richard Goodman, aged 67 years, has passed away in a private hospital in Kohima after he collapsed at Kisama, the main venue for the Hornbill Festival. The deceased is reportedly from Bradford City in West Yorkshire, England.

Goodman was said to had collapsed at Kisama Gate No. 1 while waiting for the shuttle bus at around 4:15 pm on 7 December 2024. He was immediately taken to the First Aid Station, Kisama Heritage Village, where he was further referred to Oking Hospital, Kohima and was presented to the Emergency Room of the hospital at around 5:00 pm. However, the condition of the patient worsened and he was declared dead at around 7:40 pm in the ICU of the hospital. In this regard, inquest was conducted by the magistrate and the police that reported no circumstances leading to foul play.

After necessary formalities, the body of the deceased was taken to Kohima North Police Station where post mortem examination was conducted at around 9:00 am on 8th December 2024. As per the report, the provisional cause of the dead is Myocardial Infraction.

A send-off program for the deceased was conducted at around 12:00 noon at North PS by the Tourism Department in collaboration with Kohima Police, after which the mortal remains was taken to Dimapur.
