The installation programme of the four town councils under Zunheboto district (Zunheboto, Satakha, Aghunato and Atoizu) was held at Zunheboto on 12th July 2024, DIPR has informed.
The programme was attended by Advisor for Food & Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology, K.T Sukhalu; Advisor for Land Resources, G Ikuto Zhimomi; MLA Er. Picto Shohe; district administration and others, it said.
Speaking at the programme, newly assigned Zunheboto DPDB Chairman and MLA, Er. Picto Shohe thanked everyone for the peaceful conduct of the Town Council elections in the district and requested everyone to carry forward the same spirit during elections in the future. He congratulated all the winning candidates and advised them to cooperate with one another for the upliftment of the district. He also requested the unsuccessful candidates and their supporters to extend their support for the welfare of the community.
Advisor KT Sukhalu reminded the councillors of the responsibilities upon them and asked them to take up their respective problems sincerely. He also highlighted the need for proper planning for proper execution of plans. He also stated that it is now the responsibility of the councillors to take the forward.
Advisor G. Ikuto Zhimomi in his speech said that ULB elections in Nagaland was made possible because of the sincere efforts of the State Government. He also requested the elected members to work sincerely for the people.
Also on the same day, a felicitation event was organised for the newly elected members of Atoizu Town Council at Atoizu Jubilee Hall, Atoizu town, Zunheboto which was attended by MLA Er. Picto Shohe as the Special Guest.
Er. Picto briefed the gathering on the emergence of Atoizu Town Council. He encouraged newly elected councilors to have a sincere vision to take Atoizu Town Council towards the path of development, peace and unity.
The newly elected Chairperson of the Council, Kitoli Naje, spoke on her visions and plans and also appealed for collective efforts from all stakeholders.
ADC & Administrator, Atoizu Town Council, Nukutulu S. Venuh provided insights into the regions’ administrative efforts while delivering her speech at the programme.
The event was chaired by President NCP, Shiwoto Aye and dedicatory prayer was offered by Pastor, Atoizu Town Baptist Church, Rev Vikuto.
