TR Zeliang filed his nomination in Peren on 6 February 2023.

UDA Chairman and Former Chief Minister of Nagaland, TR Zeliang filed his nomination at ADC office, Peren on Monday. An intending NDPP candidate from 7 Peren AC, Zeliang was accompanied by throng of supporters and well-wishers creating a festive atmosphere.

Zeliang stopped his march around the town with his followers to speak to reporters and on being asked if he thinks regional parties will challenge NDPP-BJP in the elections, Zeliang replied that he is hopeful of the two parties comfortably winning the majority.  He said that the small parties are not really a threat to the alliance forming the next government, adding that any party is welcome to join the alliance.

With regards to the Naga political solution, Zeliang said that there were high hopes of finalising the solution in the last tenure but unfortunately that did not happen, but he said that he is still hopeful that solution can take place even post-election.

With Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) and NSCN-IM now having come together there should not be obstructions in closing the deal, he said.

But he assured that if he is elected to power again, he will complete his vision to bring development to his people.

The former Chief Minister of Nagaland also promised to finish the Maram-Peren-Dimapur road within 1 year to facilitate the economic activity of the region.
