In a tragic incident that occurred on the morning of October 3, a dumper truck met with a fatal accident near New Camp in the Mokokchung district of Nagaland. The accident, which took place around 6:40 AM, resulted in the loss of the driver’s life and prompted a police investigation.
The ill-fated dumper truck, bearing registration number AS01MC/1092, was loaded with sand and bricks and was en route to Mokokchung when it rolled off the road, tumbling approximately 70 to 80 feet down the terrain.
The driver, a resident of Karakaw PS in Daragaon, was trapped beneath the overturned dumper truck. Local authorities, including the police station team and traffic personnel, quickly responded to the scene along with the assistance of concerned members of the public and were able to retrieve the deceased’s body.

Following the necessary legal procedures and upon refusal for a postmortem examination, the body of the deceased was handed over to his grieving relatives. Subsequently, a case has been registered for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Unnatural Death (UD) Case under section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), bearing reference number 0003/23, dated October 3 has been registered at PS-II, Mokokchung and the investigation is underway for further inquiry.
