The body of the seven year-old boy from Pangti village, who drowned in the Doyang River, was recovered at 2:15 PM on February 3 by a joint team of the NDRF and DDMA. The tragic incident occurred at Doyang Reservoir on February 2, when the 7 year-old boy who drowned at around 2:30 pm was playing football with his friends near the Doyang Reservoir.
In response to the situation, a swift rescue operation was launched by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), coordinated by the Distr’ct Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) of Wokha and the underwater drone team from NSDMA as well.

According to ADC Sanis Benjamin Longkap, the incident occurred on February 2 probably around 2:30 PM while the boy was playing football with his friends near the Doyang Reservoir. The ball reportedly fell into the river, prompting the child to enter the water to retrieve it. However, he never returned, leading his friends to alert his parents.
After the completion of all necessary formalities, the family claimed the body for the last rites.
