For the 2024 academic session, an online ‘Train the Trainer’ program is underway on March 5 & 6, 2024 for the teachers of class IX and on March 7 & 8 for class X teachers, informed the DIPR. 364 teachers had undergone the two-day training programme for class IX and 287 teachers are undergoing the training for class X.
The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) in collaboration with NSE Academy Limited (NAL) have been imparting financial literacy course at the secondary level for the last 8 years (since 2016). The course called Concepts of Financial Literacy has been designed by NSE Academy which will help students in familarising about the basics of Finance and Financial Planning and acquire an essential life skill which everyone needs irrespective of jobs, profession, rich or poor in order to make their life better through management of the financial resources available at their discretion. NBSE and NSE Academy had so far imparted the course to more than 1.5 lacs students in a structured manner. The Board is working to make the course more accessible to all students and it is compulsory for all the students of classes IX and X for the schools registered under the NBSE since 2023 academic session. NSE Academy conducts training of the new teachers annually, who then teach the course to the students.

Chairperson of Nagaland Board of School Education, Asano Sekhose in the welcome address urged the teachers to be receptive and learn the components of Financial Literacy in all details from the resource person so the course can be meaningfully transacted to the students. She emphasized the importance of financial Literacy for everyone, regardless of background of students, educators or others.
During the four days training, the resource person will dwell on topics such as money, income and expense, financial planning, banks, making budget etc. to class IX teachers and saving and investments, loans and borrowing, insurance, mutual funds, financial markets etc. to the class X teachers.
