A four-day training on IT Application and Disaster Statistics began today at the Directorate Conference Hall. The programme was inaugurated by Neisatuo Puro, Additional Director, Department of Economic & Statistics.
In his inaugural address, he mentioned that IT Application training is part of the Department’s target to achieve 100 percent computer literacy by 2025. He stressed on the importance of IT Application for data compilation and analysis. Further, he stated that the training module for Disaster Statistics is based on the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation’s High-Power Committee 1999 identification of 31 types of disaster. Data are collected under Disaster Management Act 2005.

Altogether, 14 trainees are attending the training. The training is mainly designed for statistical staff attached to disaster cell, DC offices.
The programme was chaired by Kezhalelhou Solo, Deputy Director.
