A training programme focusing on quality improvement of large cardamom was held today in Seyochung Village, Kiphire.
It was organised by Spices Board, Field Office, Kohima, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
The programme focused on plantation, establishment, nursery management, pest and disease management, marketing and post-harvest of cardamom.
The first session was led by David, Senior Agri Demonstrator, while the second session was led by Ronald, Field Officer.
Lichothri P, the Village Council chairman, welcomed and acknowledged the team for their efforts in coming to the village for the training session.
The programme was chaired by Longtili C Sangtam, the general secretary of Seyochung Village Students’ Union.
The cardamom plantations in Seyochung village began about six to seven years ago with planters selling the product in Dimapur and Kiphire district.
The Spices Board team expressed their hopes that the positive response from the participants of the training programme would yield better results in the coming years, qualifying those dedicated planters to become self-reliant in the field.
