The three-day training program and workshop on tea packaging, organised by Shishoi Oshom – ETF Cell Wokha, the Tea Board Regional Office, Golaghat and the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) Kolkata Centre, concluded on Thursday at Likya Community Hall in Wokha.
The program that began on 29th January 2024 witnessed active participation of local youths, especially dedicated members of the Wokha District Small Tea Growers Association (WDSTGA). It underscores the community’s commitment to enhancing their skills and also holds promise for the growth and development of the local tea industry.
Anuranjan Singh, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Incharge, and Project Manager at Shishoi Oshom-ETF, Cell Wokha, acknowledged the pivotal role played by the Tea Board Regional Office, Golaghat, and the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) Kolkata Centre in conducting the skill training programs. Their collaborative efforts with Shishoi Oshom – ETF Cell Wokha are invaluable contributions to the success of the initiative, he added.
During the training, the participants were provided with immersive learning experience including hands-on practical training on diverse tea packaging techniques. Additionally, the program fostered invaluable exchanges between industry experts and participants, creating a collaborative environment for innovation and growth within the local tea sector.
Later, an insightful visit to tea gardens in Nungying and Longla villages by representatives from the Tea Board and IIP provided firsthand exposure to traditional tea practices demonstrated by the WDSTGA, adding a practical and enriching dimension to the event.
