The office of the Sub-Divisional Agriculture Office, Tening conducted a training programme on organic farming practices for sustainable agriculture, disease and insect-pest management of king chilli and use of organic spray under MOVCDNER Phase 4 at Nsong village and Tening village, Peren on April 2 and 3.
According to DIPR, SDAO, Samsangheile Nchang delivered the keynote address and apprised the farmers on the four main principles of organic farming which are health, ecology, fairness, and sustainability.
The trainings on organic farming practices and various insect-pest management were delivered by technical experts. Neivah Hangsing, AO spoke on organic farming practices such as inter-cropping, crop rotation, double cropping, mixed cropping, vermi composting, integrated farming system and their advantages. She stressed that farmers need to adopt them to ensure continuous productivity and maintain sustainability and balance of the ecosystem.

Kewichamsi Kaurinta, ATM spoke on identification of different insect pests and transmitters of plant diseases, especially king chilli. Different methods of utilizing organically sourced materials to be used as insecticides were briefed. Demonstration on chilli extract and formulation of organic insecticides was done by Sahabo, AFA. Distribution of millets, Jobs tears and king chilli seeds and Roban was done.
Altogether, 75 farmers attended the training programme at Nsong village and 103 farmers at Tening village.
