The Chokri Chakhesang Literature Board (CCLB) organised the first phase of one-day seminars on “Chokri Jü Mu Küsӧzhoko” (Chokri language and its usages) September 20 at Vamuzo Memorial Hall, Chozuba town, for Chozuba Range and at CPO Conference Hall, Phek town, for Phek Area respectively.
The seminars which were aimed at promoting Chokri language in Chokri speaking areas, drew enthusiastic participation from all village councils, school teachers, Church representatives and student bodies, a CCLB press release said.
The attendance at Chozuba seminar numbered 112 while 85 participants in Phek area demonstrated collective commitment to literary and cultural preservation.

The seminar featured presentations by resource persons on the status of language development, emphasizing ongoing efforts and challenges in sustaining the linguistic heritage. The talks also centred on the importance of mother tongue while reflecting on one’s cultural identity and strategies for language preservation and promotion, aligning with different language policies.
Community leaders underscored the urgent need for language development while appealing for increased government intervention to support such initiatives. Participants engaged in dialogue about fostering and safeguarding linguistic heritage of the Chokri language. The seminars marked significant steps towards promoting the language and active community participation.
The second phase of seminar for Chokri Area and Centre Chakhesang will be announced after the monsoon season, the release informed.
