Trophy Parade in Kohima: A prelude to 7th Late Capt N Kenguruse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament

The Assam Rifles conducted a Trophy Parade as a prelude to the upcoming 7th edition of Late Capt N Kenguruse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament. The event showcased the rich heritage of football in the region, bringing together enthusiasts, players and communities to embrace the spirit of the sport, informed a press release by the Assam Rifles.

The road show showcased a vibrant display of culture, unity, sportsmanship and friendship between the Nagas and Assam Rifles through the bustling streets of Kohima, drawing cheers and applause from onlookers. The procession featured Vizosienuo Shuya, a programme announcer from All India Radio Station, Kohima accompanied by traditional Naga music and Live Band on the go from Lerie Junction to High School junction covering BOC junction, Phoolbari junction and Tinpati junction.

The aim of the event was to provide wide publicity to the upcoming event including the schedule of the tournament, prize money and giving a brief about the life and act of valour of Late Capt N Kengruse, MVC.

According to the Assam Rifles, the event received positive response from the public who lauded the efforts of the Assam Rifles in promoting sports and fostering a sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship amongst the youth of Nagaland.

The esteemed tournament, scheduled to kick off on November 7 promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent, sportsmanship and the indomitable spirit of Nagaland’s football community. Teams from all districts of Nagaland will compete for the honour of lifting the magnificent Trophy which was on display during the parade, added the press release.
