Two Primary Health Centres (PHC) in Ehunnu and Kandinu of Tseminyu district were inaugurated today by R Khing, advisor of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services and Women Resources Development, in the presence of Dr Theyiephrezo Khimiao, Health & Family Welfare Director (Dental).
In his inaugural speech at Kandinu, Khing said providing health care facilities has been the top most priority of the UDA government in the state.
He was optimistic that the two newly created PHCs, which have been upgraded from Sub Centres, would benefit the neighbouring villages of Kandinu area.
Khing called upon the people to make the best use of the health care facilities being provided by the government.
Stating that the district was lagging behind in infrastructure development especially in the healthcare system, the advisor said the commitment made by the state government to bring better health care facilities to the people at their doorstep has come into reality.
Dr Khimiao, in his speech, assured to take up the matters to the higher authority in regard to the requirement of manpower. He also called for placing proper land patta for further expansion of the health centre in the future.
Johnny G Rengma, Director NSTFDC, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India and Dr Zasekuolie Chusi, Deputy Commissioner, Tseminyu, also spoke at the programme.
Earlier, the inauguration of the Ehunnu PHC was led by Dr Cheyale Kath, MO PHC Chunlikha, while Kekhimo Kath, pastor of Ehunnu Baptist Church, invoked God’s blessings.
In the second inauguration in Kandinu, Dr Felicita Magh Ayush, PHC Kandinu, led the function while Paul Kath, pastor of Kandinu Baptist Church, pronounced dedicatory prayer.
The main function was held in Kandinu PHC where Dr John Kent, Senior Medical Officer, Tseminyu, chaired the programme. The welcome note was delivered by Hethinon Mesen, general secretary of the Kandi Public Union. The vote of thanks was proposed by Khunenchi Apon, chairman of the Village Health Committee.
A folk dance and a folk song were presented by the Kandinu Youth Organization and Sishunu Kepvünyi Zi respectively, while a special song was also presented by Anensa Kath.
The programme concluded with the benediction prayer by Mehaimo Kath, assistant pastor of Sishunu Baptist Church.
