Tsüngremmong Festival celebrations at Ungma Village highlights holistic foundation

Mokokchung: Advisor Imchen emphasizes on preserving cultural identity

The Tsüngremmong festival at Yimtsungta Arok Sapang, Ungma Village, Mokokchung, was graced by Imkong L. Imchen, Advisor to the Information & Public Relation, Soil & Water Conservation, Government of Nagaland. The festival, celebrated on the theme “Terajem Nukmen” which translates as holistic foundation, witnessed vibrant cultural performances by young boys and girls from different groups.

In his address, Imchen praised Ungma Village’s rich history as the premier and historic village of the Ao Nagas. He expressed appreciation and respect for the village’s philosophy. Emphasizing the dynamic nature of culture, he noted that while our culture and tradition might evolve, its inherent qualities and fundamentals should be respected and preserved.

Imchen commended the cultural performances showcased by various groups, including Ongpangkong Students’ Conference, SSU Kongshir, Kosasanger Pusu Menden Ungma, and Soyim Shisaluyimer Telongjem. He reiterated that culture is a vital part of our identity and should be upheld through various cultural activities with wisdom and knowledge.

Earlier, Moatemsu Longkumer, President of Soyim Students’ Union (SSU), extended warm welcome to all participants, while Rarentemjen Jamir, Tatar, highlighted the significance of Tsüngremmong in his speech.

The celebration of Tsüngremmong festival at Ungma Village brought together a vibrant display of tradition, highlighting the importance of preserving cultural heritage for the progress and continuity of civilization.
