Preparations are in full swing for the Tsüngremmong Festival, one of the most significant celebrations of the Ao Naga community, which will be held on August 1 at the Amphitheatre, Kisama, Kohima.
Former Governor and former Chief Minister of Nagaland, Padma Bhushan Dr S. Jamir, will grace the occasion as the chief attendee, adding great significance to the event.
The celebration will feature a special performance by Dreams Unlimited, along with traditional dances, folk songs, and other cultural showcases.
Tsüngremmong is a pre-harvest festival celebrated by the Ao Nagas, traditionally observed to thank the Almighty for a good harvest and to seek blessings for the future. It marks the completion of the sowing season and is a time for thanksgiving, feasting, and community bonding. The festival reflects the rich cultural identity of the Ao people through folk music, indigenous games, rituals, and reconciliation practices.
