Tuensang DC says all are equally responsible to stop drug abuse in society

Tuensang: Rutsa appeals churches to stop discrimination and social stigma against addicts

Deputy Commissioner Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, NCS stated on Monday that all are equally responsible for raising social awareness and to stop drug use among youths in society.

Rutsa was addressing the program on International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at CKS Hall Tuensang with as the main speaker. She said that addiction to drug/substance is a sickness and that everybody needs to come together and fight as generations can be ended due to uncontrolled use of drugs among youths.

She also appealed to society and churches to stop discrimination and social stigma against the addicts and instead support them to come out from addiction through rehabilitation.

Earlier, the welcome note was delivered by Moa Longkumer, DWO Tuensang, and short speeches were delivered by Chongshen Chang, District Program Officers DAPCU, and L. Yangtan Coordinator Goodwill Society Tuensang.

Manish Bhartiya, IPS SDPO Tuensang spoke on the Information on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The programme was Chaired by Thsapong Sangtam Welfare Inspector Tuensang.
