Tuensang DMHP flags urgent need to combat drug menace collectively

Tuensang: CSOs assure to give full support in all endeavours to curb drugs in area

The Tuensang District Mental Health Program (DMHP), Department of Health and Family Welfare, organised with the civil society organisations, school, youths and churches at District Hospital Conference Hall on Tuesday to discuss measures to curb drug menace in the locality.

Dr Senilo Magh, Nodal Officer, Tuensang DMHP briefed the gathering on the drug issues prevailing in the state and Tuensang district in particular. He appraised on why people resort to drugs and how they get caught in its web leading to dependence and addiction. Dr Magh further urged the gathering on the urgent need to work collectively to curb/counter the menace before an entire generation is wiped out as it happened in the 80’s and 90’s.

Following the briefing from Dr Magh, various members of the society shared their opinions, cleared their doubts and assured to give full support in all the endeavours to combat the issue collectively.

Around 35 people participated in the meeting comprising of representatives from Hakushang ward, Hakushang sector n Laiket sector, leaders from Jujam Baptist Church, Principals/teachers from Hakushang High School, Trinity Academy School, Holy Angel School and St. John Higher Secondary School.

The program started with a word of prayer by Alem, Associate Women Pastor, Jujam Baptist Church.
