The Tuensang police has made seven arrests in the last eight days and also recovered 69.72 grams of suspected heroin and 1620 tablets of Alprazolam, a psychotropic drug, from alleged drug peddlers, a press release informed.
The office of the Superintendent of Police Tuensang stated that five cases had been under the registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), while also solved a yearlong pending fraud case after apprehending the accused and filing a chargesheet.

18 July 2023: The Quick Response Team (QRT) Crime Branch Tuensang led by Unarmed Branch Sub Inspector (UBSI) Adikhum conducted a house search at Litsung ‘B’ ward Longkhim Town and recovered suspected heroin of 17.21 grams (Approx) from the possession of one person identified as Zungtholi Sangtam (23yrs) from Lirise Village.
22 July 2023: Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Chongshen lead Tuensang PS personnel and conducted a search in a suspected location and recovered suspected heroin 2.23 grams (Approx) from the possession of one accused named Jonah Chang (50yrs) of Sipongsang Village.
22 July 2023: Tuensang PS personnel led by UBSI I. Yongkongtoshi conducted a house search with the representatives of the concerned colony leaders of Phinjang Sector Tuensang Town and recovered 1620 tablets of narcotics (0.5 Alprazolam) from one accused named Mukam (35yrs) of Waoshu Village.
22 July 2023: Tuensang PS personnel under the command of UBSI I. Yongkongtoshi swiftly acted upon the information and searched a suspected location and apprehended one individual named Ngushu George of Tobu Village. 37.39 grams (Approx) of suspected heroin was recovered from the possession of accused person.
26 July 2023: Acting on information from reliable source, the QRT Crime Branch, Tuensang under the command of UBSI Adikhum Sangtam intercepted Blue Hill Bus around 8:30 AM at ISBT Tuensang. During the search, the team seized suspected heroin weighing approximately 32.33 grams packed in three soap containers from the possession of two women namely, Ronthunglo (30 years) of Bhandari Village and Yamtsnaui (32 Years) of Wui Village.
The Tuensang Police also informed that its personnel arrested a person from Mariani, Assam wanted for a case dating back to 28 October 2020. According to the FIR lodged on 2 November 2022 by Namangchubo of Kongkhum Haak Leadership Training Centre Tuensang, Rs 4,50,000 was paid to the Bimal Kumar Agarwalla against some orders which the accused failed to deliver. A team led by Investigating officer UBSI Yongkongtoshi, after acquiring the arrest warrant, rushed to Jorhat and apprehended the Agarwalla, the police said. After all legal formalities charge sheet have been filed, it added.
