The Tuensang Police have recovered and seized 78.39 grams of suspected heroin and 1,757 Spasmo Proxyvon capsules in two separate cases involving ‘Night Super’ buses, PRO Tuensang Police informed in a press release.
The first case took place on 18 August 2023 where the QRT Crime Branch led by UBSI, Adikhum intercepted one bus bound for Tuensang and recovered approximately 34.11grams of suspected Heroin and 1,757 SP capsules from one Tangnio (53 years) of Tuensang Town.
In the other case, the QRT Crime Branch, on receiving information regarding a drug peddler heading to Tuensang from Dimapur, intercepted a Night Super bus on 26 August 2023 and recovered approximately 44.28 grams of suspected heroin from the possession of one Cadre of NSCN (R) Akato faction namely, SS’ Lieut. Chemangeangba (39 years).
Police have said that cases have been registered against both accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for further investigation.

Meanwhile DEF Tuensang conducted a ‘Cyber Crime and NDPS’ awareness program on 3 September 2023 at Sangsangyu Baptist Church primarily for the youth. During the event, ASI Putiyanger, I/C, Cyber Crime Cell Tuensang spoke on Cyber security and financial fraud while UBSI I. Yongkongtoshi spoke on the issues of NDPS spreading rapidly amongst the youth.
Yongkongtoshi encouraged the youths present to be more active in social reform and seek better education to maintain free drug society. He also highlighted some of the basic laws and punishment related to NDPS Act.
Tuensang Police also informed that in the last week, the force arrested two individuals under the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act for selling and smuggling illicit liquor. On 29 August 2023 Officer-In-charge of PS Tuensang arrested one person namely Naro Chang for selling illicit liquor and recovered the following banned items.
Meanwhile on 31 August, while conducting MVCP at OP Chare Jurisdiction, the party recovered and seized illicit alcohol from one Night Super and apprehended Sutiba Sangtam (24 years).
Cases against the accused have been registered for further course of action, the police added.
