Wokha: Deceased were enroute work when boat capsized

Two men drowned at Doyang Dam in Wokha district on Monday. As per sources, the deceased were identified as Elanthung Ngullie, Age 20, s/o lt. Khumjamo Ngullie and Thungchio Patton, Age 24, S/o Lobemo Patton. Both are from Old Riphyim Village.

According to sources, the incident occurred between 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm when the deceased, along with three companions, were en route to work in a boat, but the boat capsized due to strong winds causing all five of them to fall into the water.

Three managed to swim out of the water safely but regrettably, the two deceased who could not swim were drowned.

Despite the best effort from State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the body of the two deceased have not been recovered yet and the search operation has been called off for today.

Echung Konyak, Company Commandant of Home Guards and Civil Defence, informed that the rescue operation will continue tomorrow with the assistance from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team from Kohima.
