The Unemployed Auxiliary Nursing Midwife (ANM) Association (UANMA) of Nagaland has expressed shock over the incident where a nursing student was assaulted on February 24, Monday between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM inside the Dental OPD room District Hospital Dimapur.
The Association condemned the act and expressed solidarity with the victim. “This kind of misconduct has no place in our institution, and we will ensure that justice is served. Concurrently, the association also strongly appeals the law enforcement authorities to investigate this matter thoroughly and take necessary legal actions against the perpetrator,” stated the UANMA.
Expressing its commitment to fostering a safe and respectful workplace for all staff and patients, the Association urged concerned authorities of all hospitals and institutions to take immediate measures to prevent such incidents in the future, including but not limited to, implementing stricter security protocols and providing support and counselling services to the affected individual.
“Let this note serve as a firm declaration of our zero-tolerance policy towards any form of harassment, assault, or violence within our premises. We urge everyone to come forward and report any inappropriate behavior to maintain the integrity and safety of our healthcare environment,” asserted the UANMA.

NPMCC
The Nagaland Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee (NPMCC) has also expressed outrage over the assault on a female nursing intern, stating that such incidents taking place in a healthcare institution meant to provide care and safety, is unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest terms.
The Commitee expressed full support to the victim and her family and extended solidarity with civil society organizations, student bodies, and women’s groups demanding justice. It also urged the law enforcement authorities to take swift action against the perpetrator(s).
“This incident exposes serious security failures, and we appeal to the relevant authorities to implement stricter security measures in hospitals and other public institutions to ensure the safety of all individuals, especially women,” stated the NPMCC
