ULB election related news from Kohima, Wokha, Peren, Tuli

KOHIMA

As part of preparations for the upcoming Urban Local Bodies (ULB) Election to the Kohima Municipal Council, the second and final round of training was conducted for the election officials at Kohima College, Kohima on Thursday, DIPR informed.

The training session equipped the Presiding Officers, First Polling Officers, and Second Polling Officers with the necessary skills and knowledge, and covered various aspects of the election process, including voting procedures, handling of ballot box, and ensuring the smooth conduct of the polls.

The resource persons emphasized the importance of adhering to election guidelines to maintain the integrity and transparency of the voting process. The participants were provided with detailed instructions and hands-on demonstrations to handle potential challenges during the election day.

Further, a Facilitation Centre will be set up on 21st and 24th June 2024 from 11:00 AM till 3:30 PM at DC Office Kohima, Establishment Branch- Ground Floor. All Polling Officials have been encouraged to avail the services and clear any doubts/ queries.

ZUNHEBOTO

Additional Deputy Commissioner & Returning Officer, Zunheboto Keyirangding Hegui, has informed the general public that, consequent upon State Election Commission publication of election programme for ULBs and in pursuance with the conduct of ULB Election 2024 at Zunheboto district, that, entry of private vehicle from Police Point (central) near Axis Bank will be strictly prohibited, for smooth conduct of the ULB Election, 2024, from 24th to 26th June 2024.

No parking beyond the Police Point towards DC Office will be available for the said days. Therefore, all private vehicles owners are directed to adhere to this order and Officer In-charge Traffic Police is requested to regulate the traffic accordingly.

PEREN

Peren District will conduct the second and final phase of training for the presiding and polling officers of ULB Election 2024 at Town hall, Peren on 21st June 2024 at 11.00 am.

Registration will start at 10.30.am. Deputy Commissioner, Peren, Vineet Kumar has informed and directed to all the concerned to attend the training positively.

TULI

Additional Deputy Commissioner & Return Officer, Tuli, Mokokchung in pursuance to the directive issued by the State Election Commission, Nagaland dated the 14th June, 2024 and 15th June 2024 and in pursuance to the Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung Order, dated Mokokchung the 19th June, 2024, it is notified to all concern that only 2 (Two) vehicles per candidate is to be used on the day of poll for Candidate and his Election Agent.

Additionally, it is hereby reminded that during the period of 48 Hours before the commencement of the poll which is to be held on 26th June 2024 from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, there will be no Campaign activities whatsoever within Tuli Town jurisdiction. This is for strict compliance of all concerned.

WOKHA

Additional Deputy Commissioner & Return Officer, Wokha, K. Furhesie Nyuwi, informs to all concerned that, the Voters Information Slip (VIS) is merely to help the elector get information about his/her status in relation to the election and should not be treated as the equivalent of other identification documents required of a voter for entry into polling stations and for casting votes.

Therefore, no elector will be allowed to exercise his/her franchise unless he/she produce any of the below documents prescribed by the State Election Commission.

Indian Passport, Driving License, Aadhar card, Service ID issued to its employees by the state/central Government, Public undertaking, Public Limited Companies, Bank/Post Office Pass Book with photograph, PAN card, Pension documents with photograph, Indigenous inhabitant certificates issued by the Deputy Commissioner/Additional Deputy Commissioner.

No other ID card shall be accepted at the polling station other than the documents mentioned above.
