The window for filing nominations for the forthcoming election to the Municipal/Town Councils opened today and will continue till 11th June 2024.

On the first day, one candidate from Jalukie Town, Peren district and nine from Bhandari sub-division, Wokha district filed their nominations, DIPR has informed.

In Jalukie Town, Independent candidate, Zavitso Kense filed his nomination paper for ULB election 2024 from Keleilwa Ward No. 6 Jalukie Town, Peren in the Office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner & Returning Officer, T.L. Kiusumong Tikhir, NCS, Jalukie Town.

In Bhandari, eight candidates belonging to the NPF party and one Independent candidate filed their nomination papers at the Office Chamber of the Additional Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer, Bhandari Town Council Election, Longdiba L. Sangtam. Out of the total nine wards, ward No- 1, 4 and 7 are reserved for women which had three women candidates coming forward for filing nomination papers.

The date of filing of nomination papers is from 7th to 11th June 2024 and the Scrutiny of the Nomination papers will be taken on 13th June 2024. The last date of withdrawal of the candidature will be on 18th June 2024 before 3.00. PM.

The polling will be conducted across the towns in Nagaland on 26th of June 2024 from 7.30. AM to 4.00 PM.
