Union Health Minister agrees to inaugurate NIMSR, gives ‘positive response’ to convert it to central regional institute

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio called on Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilizers of India, Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi on Thursday. The CM informed in a post on X that the purpose of the visit was to invite the Union Minister to grace the formal inaugural function of Nagaland’s maiden Institute of Medical Science and Research to which the latter consented to it.

Rio also stated on the micro blogging platform that Mandaviya gave a “positive response” to the request from the Nagaland delegates to convert NIMSR to a central regional institute.

“Called on Shri @mansukhmandviya to discuss formal inauguration of NIMSR. Grateful for his willingness to attend the inaugural function of the first medical college in Nagaland & his positive response to our request to convert it to a Central Regional Inst. like NEIGRIHMS or RIMS”, Rio said.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by C.L John, Minister of Forest, Environment & Climate Change and Village Guards; Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Minister of Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Tongpang Ozukum, Advisor of Water Resources Department and V Kezo, Commissioner and Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland.

Advisor Ozukum also posted on Instagram, “It was a pleasure and an honour to have accompanied Hon’ble CM along with my colleagues (Ministers) and other senior bureaucrats to meet Hon’ble Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Chemical and Fertilizers. Pleased to hear the positive response of the Union Minister to attend the Inaugural program of the first Medical College in Nagaland and also acknowledged the request of Hon’ble CM to convert NIMSR into a central institute like the RIMS or NEIGRIHMS.”
