The Union Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Labour & Employment, Bhupender Yadav held interactive sessions with senior DoEFCC officials and with self help groups (SHGs) in Jalukie during his visit to Peren district on 24 August 2023, a DIPR report stated. Yadav also inaugurated a Public Park cum Botanical Garden and later conducted a meeting with Heads of Offices in Peren district.
During the session with senior officials Jalukie Range Office, the Union minister highlighted that Peren district holds immense value as a vital part of the country, enriched with cultural heritage and warm hospitality. He emphasized the role of self-help groups in expediting the economic development of both the district and the state. He stated that the activities of self-help groups can significantly contribute to elevating the economic status in society, leading to holistic development.

Minister Yadav appreciated the efforts of the forest department in collaborating with self-help groups to promote a sustainable green environment in the district. He also congratulated Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for his visionary leadership in uplifting the state and fostering development.
The session was facilitated by the Department of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Government of Nagaland and hosted by C L John, Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change of the Government of Nagaland.
During an outdoor session, Minister Bhupender Yadav inaugurated a Public Park cum Botanical Garden in Jalukie and visited stalls hosted by self-help groups. He interacted with the members of these groups who shared their experiences in managing their livelihoods. The launch of the King Chilli Cluster product, a creation of the self-help groups, and the freshly Wokha were also celebrated on this occasion. The event featured the release of the Doyang Wetland Compendium and interactive posters showcasing birds of Nagaland. The Tokhu Emong bird count initiative was also inaugurated during the program.
In a meeting with Heads of Offices in Peren district, Minister Bhupender Yadav highlighted the achievements under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, mentioning that 13.5 crore Indian families have transitioned from poverty to the middle class. He encouraged district officers to identify opportunities and bridge gaps, ensuring the outreach of government initiatives to the people. The Minister appreciated the informative PowerPoint presentations from various departments and urged officers to enhance their development activities in the state.
