Union Minister of State for Youth Resources & Sports, Raksha Nikhil Khadse visited Noklak District on March 22 at Tourist Lodge. The purpose of the visit was to get an overview of the district’s profile, progress and challenges.
The Union minister in her address emphasized on the district’s requirement to enhance banking infrastructure and financial support. Keeping the focus on developmental projects, the Union minister said that the district is in the process of transitioning from backward district to an aspirational district. Khadse called for official’s preparedness on accurate data management to ensure effective implementation of developmental schemes for the wellbeing of the district. She also acknowledged the inability of timely release of funds for minister for developmental programs. Further, the Union minister mentioned India’s Prime Minister’s major consideration for Northeast region prioritizing funding for development initiatives. Highlighting agriculture and farmer’s welfare, she reminded on the efforts being made to extend benefits to all farmers under various scheme.

The Deputy Commissioner of Noklak Arikumba, in his welcome speech, gave an insight of Noklak district and developmental projects in the district, while the SDO Vikhoto Richa presented the review of Thonoknyu Aspirational block programe. The Khiamniungan Tribal Council highlighted the details of Khiamniungan tribe being scattered in both sides of the Indo Myanmar Border and urged upon the authorities not to build the fencing in the area as it can cause chaos. The Khiamniungan Sports Council appealed for the construction of Astro turf with the rising of potential sportspersons in the district, while the Nokhu Range Students Union which is a registered group in My Bharat appealed for the establishment of the Nehru Yuva Kendra office in Noklak district.
The visit reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerate developmental initiatives in Noklak. District authorities and concerned departments were urged to intensify efforts, improve data management and enhance preparedness for the growth in the region. Key topics included on the challenges particularly in banking, connectivity and efficient utilization of funds.
During the event, the Rashtriya salute was performed by the Nagaland Village Guard. As part of the visit, the Union Minister along with officials from various departments visited Nokyan village to assess the needs of the local community.
