United Sangtam Likhüm Pumji issues ex-communication notice

The United Sangtam Likhüm Pumji (USLP), the apex tribal organisation of the Sangtam Nagas has issued an ex-communication notice to one of its member.

In the notice, the USLP mentioned that on July 8, Likhumse Sangtam of Thsingar village passed a comment in an important Whatsapp group which was found to be detrimental for the growth of Sangtam Tribe and its peaceful co-existence within ENPO Tribes

“Whereas, Shri. Likhumse Sangtam was officially, personally and through some other source requested to delete his defamatory and derogatory message as it was assumed that, he is defaming the President, USLP who was defending its Tribe and the Constitution of ENPO. However, the request was denied abruptly by him. Whereas, it was confirmed through telephonic conversation that his message was aimed at defaming and tarnishing the good Office of USLP and its President who represents its people,” stated the USLP.

Therefore, in exercise of powers conferred upon the Executive Committee of the USLP under Article 17 (J) an emergency Executive Meeting was called on July 23 at Longkhim Town sub-Headquarter of the USLP where majority of the members attended the meeting and as per Article 14 (b), 17 (d), (g) and (j), the august house unanimously decided to ex-Communicate Likhumse Sangtam from the Sangtam Community for a period of 15 (fifteen) years with effect from July 23,2025 till July 22, 2039.

The USLP also mentioned that Likhumse will no longer represent the Sangtam Community in any Governmental/Non-Governmental Departments/Organizations. Further, any kind of NOC/Recommendations will not be issued to Likhumse from the village/Area/Tribe during this ex communication period.

“Likhumse is debarred from filing any kind of case at any Court of law/organization/s against any members of Sangtam community and its leaders. This Ex-Communication Notice is served in exercise of the Powers conferred upon the USLP through its Constitution and Article 371 (A) of the Indian Constitution,” asserted the USLP.
