Unity March held at Tuensang

In commemoration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sadar Vallabhbhai Patel, a Unity March was held at Town Hall, Tuensang on November 18 with P Bashang Mongba Chang, Minister Housing and Mechanical (PWD) as the Special Guest. The programme was organised by Mera Yuva Bharat in collaboration with District Administration, Tuensang.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister expressed his happiness to be a part of Unity March held in remembrance and honour of Sadar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. The Minister highlighted that, through his vision and determination, Patel laid the foundation of a United Nations – diverse in Culture, rich in heritage yet united in spirit.

He added that at a time when our country was confronted with uncertainty and fragmentation, it was Sadar Patel’s unwavering courage, foresight and administrative brilliance that united more than 560 Princely states into a sovereign Nation.

The Minister exhorted the gathering to inherit the spirit of oneness which Sadar Vallabhbhai Patel had strongly advocated and carry forth his legacy for the peaceful co-existence of our future generations. Chang appealed to reaffirm our commitment to peace, harmony and development.

Chang said with each step we take, we should take it as a reminder that progress is possible only when we work together as one people with mutual respect and shared purpose.

The other highlights of the day were- Invocation by Abeno Murry, Women Pastor LBET; Life of Sadar Vallabhbhai Patel by Kishore Barman, DYO Mera Yuva Bharat; keynote address by Philip Yanthan, Add. SP Tuensang; cultural presentation from St John Higher Secondary School, and a vote of thanks by H. Berimong, SDO (C), Tuensang.

The programme was chaired by Er Moasanen Imsong, EAC Tuensang. Earlier, the Unity March was flagged off by Minister, P Bashang Mongba Chang from Clock Tower to Town Hall, Tuensang lead by Hauyang Chuba Pipe Band. The event was participated by Government officials from various Department, wards representative, colleges and schools students from Tuensang.
