Unity March held in Wokha, Kiphire to honour Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary

A district-level Unity March was held in Wokha on November 4 in commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. The event was organised by My Bharat Wokha in coordination with the Wokha District Administration.

The march, which began from Police Point and culminated at Mount Tiyi College, saw wide participation from students, government officials, and the general public.

At the college, the formal programme was held with ADC Wokha, Renbomo Ezung, flagging off the rally. A media briefing and unity pledge were later administered by District Youth Officer, My Bharat, Hitesh Kumar.

Highlights of the programme included a cultural performance by Mount Tiyi College NSS, the garlanding of Sardar Patel’s portrait, and speeches on his vision and legacy of national unity.

In his address, Renbomo Ezung called upon the youth to emulate Sardar Patel’s ideals of discipline, integrity, and service to the nation. He urged them to stay away from destructive habits and to take active roles in promoting peace and unity in society.

He further encouraged the youth to contribute meaningfully towards a united and self-reliant India, aligning with the vision of Mera Bharat.

Earlier, Hitesh Kumar, in his presidential address, highlighted the purpose of the programme and emphasised the need for collective efforts in strengthening the spirit of oneness among citizens.

The event concluded with cultural items, youth reflections, and the singing of the National Anthem.

Kiphire:

A District-level Unity March (Pad Yatra) was organised by MY Bharat Kiphire in coordination with the District Administration to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on November 4 with a “Unity Walk” from ZPC College, Kiphire till DC Office, Kiphire. The event, held under the theme “Let Us Walk for Unity, Rise for Nation”, aimed to promote the spirit of Ek Bharat – Aatmanirbhar Bharat and to pay tribute to the Iron man of India for his pivotal role in national integration.

The Padayatra was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner, Temsuwati Longkumer, who delivered an inspiring address during the Unity Walk held in commemoration of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary celebrated as National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas).

Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer, in his speech, highlighted Sardar Patel’s pivotal role in uniting the princely states to form a strong and independent India. He described Patel as a timeless symbol of courage, leadership and national integration, whose legacy continues to inspire generations.

“Patel’s life teaches us that unity, determination, discipline and integrity can transform a nation,” he stated.

Urging all the youth to always stay united to the make the nation to be “Ek Bharat- Shreshta Bharat”, especially the youth to uphold these values, he emphasized that the true spirit of nation-building lies in respecting differences and working together for a common purpose.

Concluding his address, Temsuwati called upon everyone to “take inspiration from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s life and work towards building a nation that is united, prosperous and full of harmony.”

Dr Phyobenthung, Principal ZPC, inspired the youth by highlighting the importance of unity in diversity and collective responsibility for nation-building.

District Youth Officer, Kishore Dulam emphasized on “Iron will of Sardar” and work towards achieving goals and building bright future.

The programme featured a cultural performance by the NSS students of ZPC College, setting an energetic tone for the day. Certificates and Mementos were presented to participants and Guests in recognition of their contributions.
