Unprecedented snowfall in Sikkim; BRO rescues locals, stranded tourists

Kohima: The Karamyogis of BRO Project Swastik went out to help the locals and the tourists by clearing the roads, and providing shelter and food for the night.

With unprecedented heavy rains, snow and hail storms lashing the state of Sikkim from 15 to 17th March, Border Roads Organisation (BRO) came to the rescue of locals and stranded tourists stuck on the road.

The Karamyogis of BRO Project Swastik went out to help the locals and the tourists by clearing the roads, and providing shelter and food for the night, a defence update informed.

Medical attention by the medical staff of BRO was given to those in need.

The Karamyogis further worked through the night to ensure that the roads were cleared and opened for traffic, it added.
