UPI officially launched in France

The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) was officially launched at the Eiffel Tower during the Republic Day Reception in Paris.

This was announced by the Indian Embassy in France on February 2, in its official Twitter (X) account.

The UPI is an instant real time online payment system developed by NPCI to facilitate inter-bank transactions through mobile phones.

“UPI formally launched at the iconic Eiffel Tower at the huge Republic Day Reception. Implementing PM @narendramodi’s announcement & the vision of taking UPI global,” tweeted the Indian Embassy.

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, congratulated France for the formal launch of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) at the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

He called the move a wonderful example of encouraging digital payments and strengthening ties. The Prime Minister posted on X:

“Great to see this- it marks a significant step towards taking UPI global. This is a wonderful example of encouraging digital payments and fostering stronger ties.”
