UPSC CSE 2022: Top 4 Women; 4 candidates from Nagaland qualify

New Delhi: 320 women among the qualified 933 candidates

The top four positions of the Civil Services Examination, 2022 held by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) are women. There are 14 women in the top 25 candidates in the final result declared on Tuesday.

Further, four candidates from Nagaland have cracked the exam. The successful candidates from the state are Yimkum Ozukum (Rank 203), Vevotolu Kezo (Rank 387), Imkongnukla Ao (Rank 723) and W Aotula Ozukum (Rank 874).

933 candidates have cleared the Union Public Service Commission and have been recommended for appointment to Indian Administrative Service (180); Indian Foreign Service (38); Indian Police Service (200); and Central Services, Group ‘A’ (473) and Group ‘B’ (131).

The UPSC written exam was held in September 2022 and the interviews for Personality Test held in January-May 2023.

The top four position holders are – Ishita Kishore, a graduate in Economics (Hons.) from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi; Garima Lohia a graduate in Commerce from   Kirorimal College, University of Delhi; Uma Harathi N , a graduate (B Tech.) in Civil Engineering from IIT, Hyderabad; Smriti Mishra , a graduate (B Sc.) from Miranda House College, University of Delhi.

The top 25 successful candidates opted for subjects like Anthropology, Commerce & Accountancy, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Law, History, Mathematics, Political Science & International Relations, Philosophy, Sociology and Zoology as their optional choice in the Written (Main) Examination.

The Commission informed that 320 women were among the qualified candidates. The recommended candidates also include 41 Persons with Benchmark Disability (14 Orthopedically Handicapped, 07 Visually Challenged, 12 Hearing Impaired & 08 Multiple Disabilities).

Of the 933 candidates, 345 are from General background, 99 are from Economically Weaker Section (EWS), 263 are from Other Backward Caste (OBC), 154 from Scheduled Caste (SC) and 72 candidates are from Scheduled Tribe (ST).
