The Urban Development Department held the retirement programme in honour of the outgoing Director, Solesül Tholreon August 29 at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of the Urban Development, Kohima.
Advisor for UD & MA, Zhaleo Rio in his short speech began by saying that the occasion is not to bid farewell to the outgoing Director, Solesül Tholre but to celebrate his 33 years of successful career.
A man of amiable character and humility, committed to his service to the people, Rio said that the Department has been blessed to have had him as the Head of Department. He extended his appreciation to Tholre for being able to run the Department with much ease and commanding respect from the officers and staff alike, and encouraged the Department to follow the same footsteps.
Commission & Secretary, UD & MA, Kekhrievor Kevichüsa shared that having worked with Tholre, he has seen him to be a man whose greatest attributes are his uncomplicated nature and being a great team player. He said that Tholre’s contribution will not end with his retirement but he looks forward to seeing him contribute to the society in different capacities as well.
The outgoing Director, Solesül Tholre began his farewell address by extending gratitude to the Advisor, the Commissioner & Secretary, colleagues, officers and all those present for their words of appreciation.
He recollected his time in the Department in his 33 years of service, where he was posted for 21 years in the districts including Phek, Mon, Zuhnehoto, Wokha and Mokokchung. He shared his experiences during his postings where he had to overcome a lot of difficulties and challenges and therefore, Tholre advised the officers to take it as a challenge wherever they are posted and to learn their culture and way of living.
Tholre ended his address by extending his gratitude to his family, colleagues, officers and staff for providing him with unconditional love and support during his service.
The incoming Director, Tarachu Fithu during his short speech also shared about his time with Tholre where he saw him to be a sincere officer who is ever ready to work overtime for the state. Having worked under several HoDs, he realized that Tholre is man of humility and sincerity.
While addressing, Fithu also talked about the importance of working efficiently and encouraged the officers to optimise the resources of the department so as to bring out a roadmap for proper urbanisation of Nagaland.

President, Nagaland Physical Planners Association, Kezhochole Rhetso called the programme a celebration of a multitude of Tholre’s achievements and the beginning of a new chapter. She recalled stories of how his warm encouragement and gesture of mentorship helped the Department and the NPPA alike. She also extended gratitude to the family for their steadfast support and said she looked forward to him continuing to help the Department as a mentor in the future.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Joint Director, UD, Petevilie Khatsü and the invocation prayer for the programme was pronounced by Deputy Director, UD, Kiniholi Kinimi.
Special songs were presented by the UD Staff and Abotoli Shohe respectively, and the vote of thanks was given by Secretary of DAN, Kevileno Solo.
