Two delegations — the United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) and the United Sangtam Baptist Lithroti Ashimükhong (USBLA) — met Deputy Chief Minister, Home & Border Affairs, Y Patton Kiphire, Kohima, placing separate appeals of public importance.

The USSC sought the immediate commissioning of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) at Kiphire, noting that despite completion of its building and facilities, the institute remains non-functional, hampering teacher training and educational standards.

The delegation also urged the upgradation of the SDPO office at Seyochung ADC headquarters for better administrative reach.

Meanwhile, the USBLA requested government support for the infrastructural development of Arenthru Thuyo, a 6.5-hectare retreat center gifted in 2012 by the Tethuyo Village Council. Located near Longmatra Administrative HQ, the center has hosted government, NGO, and church gatherings promoting peace and dialogue.

The delegation stressed the need to replace termite-damaged structures with permanent facilities and sought assistance through financial allocation, infrastructure support, or inclusion in relevant schemes.

The Deputy Chief Minister assured both delegations that the matters would be given due consideration.
