On the occasion of the 61st Nagaland Statehood Day, the Governor of Uttarakhand, Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh (Retd.) met with members of the Dehradun Naga community at the Raj Bhavan, Dehradun.
The Naga community members present included Naga students studying in Dehradun as well as elders working in Dehradun among whom were Dr Nokmatongba Jamir, Deputy General Manager (Geology), ONGC, Dr Koko Rose, IFS, DCF, Uttarakhand Forest Department and Pastor Tzudilong Tzudir, NCF Dehradun.
The student members led by student leaders Lumchungli T Sangtam and Bopeto K Shohe presented two songs at the event. A model of a Morung and a Naga spear were presented to the Governor by the Dehradun Naga community.

Dr Nokmatongba Jamir, in his speech on behalf of the Naga community, highlighted the uniqueness of the state, its culture and values. He thanked the Governor for the honour accorded to the members of the Naga community.
Uttarakhand Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh (Retd.), in his speech, recounted his days in the Army with Naga soldiers and expressed his profound admiration for the beauty and simplicity of the Naga culture and values. He called upon members of the Dehradun Naga community to embrace a spirit of unity and oneness with the whole country and to be good ambassadors of Naga culture and values.
