Valedictory programme of Defence Correspondents Course 2024 held at Udhampur

Udhampur (J&K): Army Commander emphasises on sensible reporting on operations and reports on Bravehearts

The valedictory programme of Defence Correspondents Course (DCC-2024) was held on 7th September 2027 at Udhampur, Jammu & Kashmir where the 34 journalists who participated in the Course were felicitated by Army Commander, Northern Command, Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, PVSM, AVSM, YSM**, VSM.

The course has been organized by Directorate of Public Relations, Ministry of Defence as an annual training activity for the journalists. Jojo Nakro Naga from Nagaland, and K Premchand Singh and W Chitradhani Devi from Manipur, working with Sudarshan Channel, were part of the course.

The PRO and Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence informed that the DCC-2024 congregated at Karwar on 19 August 2024 for a week long Navy module followed by the Airforce module at Sulur Airforce Station, Tamilnadu and reached Jammu on 01 September 2024 for the Army leg.

During the course the 34 selected journalists, representing different parts of the country and variety of mediums, for an opportunity to interact with the senior officers, visited defence establishments and understood the organisation and operational responsibilities.

During the valedictory event the Army Commander awarded the course certificates to all the participants and emphasized upon the positive and factual reporting on defence matters.

In his address, the Army Commander emphasized the budding defence journalists on sensible reporting on operations and reports on Bravehearts. He also emphasized on the National Security aspects while reporting stories on defence activities. The Army Commander also stressed upon the important role of journalists in the Nation Building.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the aim of the course was to get journalists from all over the country to give an overview of the functioning of the three wings of the Armed Forces.
